MINUTES of the MEETING of the PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE held on Monday 9 February 2009 in the COMMITTEE, KNEBWORTH VILLAGE HALL

1. Declaration of Interests
There were no declarations of interest.
2. Minutes
It was proposed by Mr Smith, seconded by Dr Fothergill and
RESOLVED “that the Minutes of the Meeting of the Planning and Environment Committee, held on 12 January 2009 be approved.”

Single storey side extension with monopitch roof to porch

4. 08/03037/1 Knebworth Golf Club Deards End Lane, Knebworth
Replacement conservatory extension to clubhouse
A resident complained about the size of the extension and the increase in noise from private parties. The noise problem is an environmental issue. The extension is large but would replace the marquee which is a permanent feature during the summer months and would contain noise more effectively. The committee had NO OBJECTIONS.

Demolition of existing single storey rear extension and replacement conservatory to clubhouse

6. 08/03000/1 8A Pondcroft Road, Knebworth
Insertion of two rooflights in front elevation and two roof lights in rear elevation to facilitate loft conversion

Change of use of first floor from residential to office. Insertion of doorway into ground floor shopfront. Relocation of existing staircase and associated provision of new glazed roof canopy and stainless steel balustrading
Subject to there being adequate parking provision the committee had NO OBJECTIONS
8. Planning Policies
A recent NHDC officer report on a planning application stated that Knebworth did not have a retail policy. NHDC has policies for the four town centres and the committee is to investigate a similar policy for Knebworth.
9. Any Other Business
9.1 Posts Old Knebworth Lane
Mrs Pateman reported that the posts between Larch Howe and Glebe House have been knocked down. The clerk is to contact Herts. Highways.
9.2 Road Markings Station Road
Dr Fothergill reported that the road markings in Station Road have become faint. The clerk is to contact Herts. Highways regarding repainting the lines.
9.3 Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on 2 March 2009
